About Us
Our Christian Doctrine
Disciple's
Path Ministries and Coach's Corner Publications holds to the most
rigorous standards of accuracy and completeness in understanding and
conveying the truths of scripture. We are conservative and fundamental
in nature, and all our ministry and study resources are founded
entirely in scripture and are expository in platform. Only through
intense study of the inerrant, infallible Word of God can we ever hope
to be of help to anyone.
Our ministry is based in scripture but
is founded on the complete work of the Only Son of God, Jesus Christ,
who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself up
as a sacrifice to take away the sin of the world on the cross. That
work being complete, and God having raised Him from the grave in bodily
form and now ascended to heaven to take His place at the right hand of
God (and to prepare a place for those who exchange their life for His),
Jesus is the author of our faith. In pursuit of Him, we also make Him
the finisher of our faith. Through daily taking up our cross and
following Him, we find life more abundant.
And yet, the life of
a disciple is not just a life of imitation but one of incarnation,
Christ in me, the we might be revealed, renewed, changed, and made to
be more like Him. That pursuit, the very pursuit to know God, to seek
His face, is the ultimate call of our life.
Our Story
Disciple's
Path Ministries and Coach's Corner Publications began in 1990 as an
extension of the personal ministry of Tim Owen, a college instructor,
high school teacher, youth worker, and director of College and Career
ministries in his church in Raleigh, NC.
Tim began writing
devotional books to support his leadership in Fellowship of Christian
Athletes at the high school where he taught. It very quickly blossomed
into support of high school and college students and whoever he came in
contact with.
After writing devotionals for just about every
ministry and missions trip he supported or ventured upon, Tim began to
put his Sunday School and Bible Study lessons to paper as well. The
most intensive of these. a 12 week study known as Christian
Disciplines, has since been used by various small groups and has even
been adapted for use as a complete one-year Sunday School curriculum
program. It's been written and rewritten for individuals, small groups,
and whole churches.
In 1999, Tim still had a strong desire to
share his faith with more and more people through the written word. It
was that year that he penned his first full-length publication. For
Glory and Virtue: On the Trail of a Disciple was the culmination of a
life of doing it the wrong way, following all the wrong paths, and
through it all finding the pursuit of the very face of God being one of
abandon and passion.
The life of a Christian is real,
ever-changing, and depends so intimately on God revealing Himself
personally, in prayer, and in His Word. Tim's writing continues to grow
as He continues to grow. New resources, new studies, new devotions, and
updates of all the materials as God allows, are all indications of a
life of growth. But one thing that remains consistent in all Tim's
work, writing, teaching, and leading, is the passion for exposing the
truth of God in His Word, revealing the character of God in the life of
a disciple, and making these graces accessible to the student and
reader by connecting it in all points to real life.
Our Guy
Tim
Owen, author, publisher, and trainer for Disciple's Path Ministries, is
a layman. He was called out by God and found a saving relationship with
God through Jesus Christ over 30 years ago. He has since made pretty
much every mistake and failed in almost every way a person can fail,
and yet God has been so very faithful and has used the life of victory
and failure to make Tim more genuine, more real, and more transparent.
He
has been called by God to serve in vocational ministries in the world
rather than in ministry vocations, so that he might carry the message
of the gospel and make whatever impact on his little world for Jesus
Christ. In conjunction with that calling, Tim has also been gifted to
minister within the church, through teaching, service, and any way
possible to do his part in equipping the church to reach the world they
are in. He desires to live a lifestyle of evangelism, walk a testimony
of change, and stand transparent as a message of the gospel of the
cross.
The Lord has moved Tim through various places and
tasks, from coast to coast, from north to south, from from physicist to
janitor, from education to engineering, and he lives to do and be
whatever else God desires in the hopes that he might please and glorify
the Master he serves. And he brings this testimony, this experience,
and this lifestyle to his writing. Above all, Tim desires that the
people he comes into contact with, whether in person, in service, or in
words, will find a glimpse of God's work in him and be made closer to
the King for having made that connection.
However you find
contact with Disciple's Path Ministries, may it leave you well,
well-cared-for, and well on your way in your pursuit of the very face
and joy of God Himself!
